Ayodhya witnessed a momentous development as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new airport on December 30. This event preceded the highly anticipated consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple scheduled for January 22. Upon his arrival, the Prime Minister conducted a roadshow, interacting with the crowd that had gathered along the route from the airport to the railway station. The city was adorned with flowers, and welcoming posters for the PM were displayed across various locations, with tight security measures in place. In addition to inaugurating the revamped railway station, now named Ayodhya Dham, the Prime Minister flagged off six Vande Bharat and two new Amrit Bharat trains. The redeveloped railway station, costing ₹240 crore, is a certified green building equipped with modern amenities. Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhya Dham, developed at a cost exceeding ₹1,450 crore. The airport terminal, spanning 6,500 sq m, features colorful murals depicting stages of the Ramayana and Lord Ram’s life. It is expected to cater to around 10 lakh passengers annually, connecting major cities to facilitate the influx of visitors to the Ram Temple. The inauguration reflects a broader initiative encompassing projects worth over ₹11,000 crore for Ayodhya and its surroundings, emphasizing holistic development and cultural enrichment. The completion of the Ayodhya airport in just 20 months underscores its infrastructural significance and the commitment to enhancing air connectivity in the region.
